The Longmen Grottoes hold tens of thousands of Buddhist statues carved into limestone cliffs over several centuries. From Zhengzhou, the programme also reaches the Shaolin Temple, birthplace of Shaolin kung fu, before continuing to Beijing and Shanghai. The grottoes are a UNESCO World Heritage Site, on the banks of the Yi River near Luoyang.
